Just as an example, I've purchased Doom, Hitman and XCOM 2 in the past 2 weeks alone. Especially with all the sales we have nowadays. Now, I'm not an hypocrit, I occasionaly play some pirated copies (FC Primal will be one of them), but I don't mind at all buying a game for a reasonable price if it's prooven to be good. They're just such nice lads that wouldn't mind making their families live under a bridge and starve, just so you could play their creations free of charge. What's sad is that people such as yourself think developers make games to entertain you for free.
I'd say Denuvo has been a success, given the time it's taking to crack games with it. Who'd guess games are made to generate profit, like any other business, and there's heavy costs attached to them! Denuvo protects a company's interests, which in this case is to maximize their profits through sales. But many other smaller firms couldn't allow playing with taking such draconian protection measures that have the potential to hurt sales. Their income comes from Windows and Office. Microsoft can allow to play around with this protection, because they don't care if it impacts their sales. But if every copy protectoin maker would enable this approach en masse, then that would be a big gameover in the world of x86 instruction set era for cracking. UWP games also have pretty big performance impact because of realtime encryption, that's why others (as well as Denuvo) dont use this approach. Cryptographers and people very known to cracking scene have said they wouldn't put any hope of UWP games getting cracked, because it's the first protection that uses on-the-run (realtime) encryption, and as we knows AES and alike symmetrical protections are almost impossbile to bypass, other than to brute force they key length (which takes millions of years, literally).
